2004 Minnesota Junior Golf Association
• Entry Procedures and Refunds
Mission: The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association will provide playing opportunities for the advanced, intermediate and beginning golfer. These playing opportunities will promote competition and camaraderie.

Eligibility: Open to all boys and girls who have not reached their 19th birthday prior to August 16, 2004. Eligible participants should have some experience with the game of golf.

Sponsorship: The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association is sponsored by the Minnesota Section of the Professional Golfers' Association of America, Inc., a non-profit corporation chartered in the state of Minnesota. All Junior Golf Association correspondence should be directed to the sponsor's corporate office: Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association, 12800 Bunker Prairie Road, Coon Rapids, Minnesota, 55448. Telephone: 763-754-6641.

Registration: Both new and renewal members must submit a 2004 membership application. The application must be filled out completely and returned to the MN PGA Golf Association by mail or by registering on-line at www.minnesotajuniorgolf.com. Membership fees paid for BY FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2004 ARE: $50.00 for juniors playing in the 13-18 year old group and $30.00 for juniors playing in the 8-12 year old events. Your membership fee will include a 2004 MN PGA Junior Golf Association membership kit containing an official MN PGA Junior Golf Association golf hat, a bag tag, a copy of the 2004-05 USGA Rules of Golf book, and a copy of the 2004 MN PGA Junior Golf Association Membership Directory. AFTER FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2004 the membership fee for juniors playing in the 13-18 year old Age Group is $60.00. Juniors playing in the 8-12 year old events will be charged $40.00. Any junior becoming a member AFTER April 23, 2004 still needs to pay the appropriate membership fee but CANNOT be guaranteed the items included in the membership kit. The MN PGA Junior Golf Association reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application.

Entry Process/Fees: The tournament schedule will be mailed out and available at www.minnesotajuniorgolf.com in March. Tournament entries will be processed in a computerized lottery program, where the computer will randomly select the participants for each tournament. Playing ability, the length of time you have been a member of the MN PGA Junior Golf Association, etc… will have no effect on the outcome. Playing the lottery is another way to look at this. Pure luck decides the outcome! Field sizes are different for each tournament; it all depends on how many spots the host facility can handle.

The cost for each 18-Hole (Junior Tour and Transition Tour) tournament is $20.00, and the cost for each 9-Hole Transition Tour and Beginners' Tour tournament is $15.00. Payment of fees may be made by check, money order, Visa or MasterCard. Correct payment must accompany all entry forms. Entry forms without correct payment will not be processed.

Cancellation Policy: If a junior must cancel out of an event, a refund will be made only if the MN PGA Junior Golf Association is notified before 4:30 p.m., at least seven days prior to the event. This can be done using the cancellation form on www.minnesotajuniorgolf.com. If a junior is not able to make it to an event due to a personal reason and it is less than seven days prior to the event, you still need to call 763-754-6641 to cancel out of the event that you are scheduled to play in. You need to do this even if it is the day of the event. If for some reason no one is available when you call, you must leave a message on the MN PGA Junior Golf Association's voice mail system.

In the case of an emergency, written requests for refunds must be submitted to the MN PGA Junior Golf Association Office. In order to be considered for a refund due to illness or injury, a doctor's/physician's note must accompany the written request. All emergency-related refund requests will be considered on their own merits. Refund checks for those events cancelled under the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Cancellation Policy will be processed at the end of the season.

Prizes: At the completion of play, pins will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age group. In the case of a tie, additional pins will be mailed to those who did not receive one at the site. In addition, a plaque will be awarded to the overall girl medalist and overall boy medalist in the 13 - 18 year old events. In case of a tie for overall medalist, a playoff method will be determined on site by the tournament administrator.

Format for Competition: All events are stroke play competition. Players will be paired into age groups in boys' and girls' divisions. Your age group is determined by your age on August 16, 2004. USGA Rules shall govern all play. All events for juniors ages 13 - 18 are 18-hole events. Juniors age 12 and Under will play 9 holes on regulation 9-hole courses, Par 3 courses, and executive-type courses. Players may not use caddies or motorized carts. All players must either carry their own clubs or use a pullcart. NO provisions have been made for practice rounds. On tournament days, practice is restricted to designated practice areas at the discretion of the host facility. Pace of play will be strictly enforced; participants playing 18 holes should complete their round in at least four and half-hours after the start of play.
