NEW FOR 2011: We will now be having volunteer scorekeepers that will walk along with each group in the Beginners/Transition Tour
Events (Ages 8-12). Parents will be allowed to serve as a scorekeeper for their child's group and will also be allowed to volunteer for more
than one event. If a parent is found to be giving advice or coaching their child, the player will be disqualified from that event as per the USGA rules of golf.
What volunteering involves:
Volunteering as a scorekeeper will involve counting and recording strokes for each member of your group. Each junior will be keeping an official
scorecard for another member of his/her group. You will verify with each member of the group that their score is accurate after each hole and also
double check the hole by hole scores before each junior signs their official scorecard and turns it into the on-site administrator in the scoring area.
You will wear a Minnesota PGA Volunteer Badge and will be able to walk along with the group. The scorekeeper may not give instructional advice,
line-up putts, select clubs, nor put pressure on the junior. If there is a rules decision the volunteer will flag down one of the on-site administrators to make a ruling.
How to sign up to be a Volunteer Scorekeeper:
We prefer that you email us at
info@minnesotajuniorgolf.com at least one week before the date of the event or you can also call the MN PGA Junior
Golf Association Office at 763-754-6641. Please let us know your child’s name, your name and the name of the event that you would like to volunteer at.
You will be notified of your grouping when you arrive at the event. The MN PGA will do its best to assign you the group that your junior is playing in.
You may also have the opportunity to volunteer the day of the event by checking in with the on-site administrator. We strongly encourage you to call or
email us in advance so we make sure we have enough volunteers for each event.
