Sophia Yoemans of Red Wing and Caleb VanArragon of Blaine won the 2017 Fall Champions Showdown; a 36-hole stroke play event at Oak Glen G.C. and North Oaks G.C.
After day one of the girls division at Oak Glen G.C., Leah Herzog of Red Wing shot 1-over 73 to take a one stroke lead over Yoemans. On day two at North Oaks G.C. Yoemans fired her lowest round to par ever by shooting a 5-under 69. She carded five birdies during the round to post a two-day 3-under 143; seven strokes better than Herzog. Taking third place was Emma Welch of Lakeville.
In the first round of the boys division at Oak Glen G.C., Matthew Armstrong of Eden Prairie fired a 1-under 71 to lead by one shot over VanArragon. Responding nicely on the second day, VanArragon shot a 1-under 70 to post a two-day 1-under 142 total; good enough for a six shot win over Armstrong. Gavin Cronkhite of Lakeville took third place.
