  LET THE "MADNESS" BEGIN!
The month of March is the time of the year known as "March Madness". This is due to the numerous amounts of college and high school tournaments. We at the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association would agree with this but for a different reason. We have spent the "off season" planning for a bigger and better year in 2000. Now is the time when we start to put those months of planning into action. This summer the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association will be offering over 125 junior tournaments and events. Juniors ages 8 through 18 are eligible to participate in these tournaments and events. We anticipate processing over 1500 Junior Tour membership and tournament applications. Now you see why we consider this time of the year "March/April Madness".
Juniors you need to start thinking and planning ahead for the summer and NOW is the time. How about teeing it up and playing in some competitive junior golf tournaments? If this sounds interesting, you might want to become a member of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association. Become a member of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association's Junior Tour and you will be eligible to compete in some stroke play tournaments with some of
A champion!

the top junior golfers in the area and you will play some of the top golf courses in the Minnesota PGA Section. Participating in our program is also an excellent way for you to see how good a golfer you are compared to other juniors throughout the Minnesota PGA Section. It's also a great way to meet some new friends. In addition to this, juniors who become a member of the Minnesota PGA Junior Tour by April 21st will receive a membership kit. The kit will include: an official Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association golf hat, a bag tag, a year subscription to "Tour Tidbits" (the Official Newsletter of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association), a 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Membership Directory, and a 2000-01 USGA Rules of Golf book plus much more!
Inside you will find the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Tour tournament schedule plus other opportunities that you can participate in this summer by becoming a member of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association. Several of you have already joined in on the madness by filling out and returning your 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Tour membership application form. (Please disregard the membership application that is enclosed inside if you have already returned the one from the January/February edition of the "Birdie Briefs!") For those of you who have not done this yet, do not worry you still have some time left on the clock. But don't wait too long!
The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association conducts a lottery drawing to determine which juniors play in what events. In order for you to be eligible for this lottery, you need to look over the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Tour tournament schedule. Fill out the tournament application form plus the membership application form and return them to the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association by 4:30 p.m., April 21, 2000. The process is the same as last year; you will indicate on the tournament application which events you would like to be considered for in the lottery. An example of the correct way to fill out the tournament application is included inside. Please read through the entire newsletter very carefully. There is a lot of valuable information pertaining to the lottery, Junior Tour, other junior events, plus much more.

  CONGRATULATIONS CARLIE!
We now have a new name for the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Newsletter, "Tour Tidbits". The decision was a tough one but after several days of behind closed-door discussion, we are pleased to announce that Carlie Allen of Blaine, MN is our winner. By coming up with this cute and clever title for the newsletter, Carlie will receive $50.00 towards her membership fee or tournament fees. Thank you to all of you who mailed in an entry.
