  Dana Moening     Age 16     Cold Spring, MN     Red Wing, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Dana is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Girls' Player of the Year, finishing with 600.83 points. Dana also is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour Series "C" Girls' Champion. She earned 512.50 points in her series. Dana placed or tied for first in four Players' Tour events, placed second once and third once. Dana tied for fourth at the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Tournament of Champions at Izaty's Golf & Yacht Club. She was a member of the Minnesota team for the 2000 Minnesota/Wisconsin PGA Junior Cup Matches. Other highlights include placing fourth in the Class "AA" Minnesota State Golf Tournament, placing third at the MWGA Girls State Championship, and playing in the Minnesota/Manitoba Cup Matches.
     Most memorable experience(s) occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "I made so many good friends playing in the Junior PGA events. These are people that I would not have otherwise met, but now they are friends for life."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "If you keep a positive attitude, work hard, and enjoy the game, you'll be amazed at how much you can accomplish."
     Additional Activites/Hobbies: Dana also plays volleyball and basketball. She is a member of Target, SADD, the Drug-Free Team, and the National Honor Society.
 
  Krista Swanson      Age 15      Forest Lake, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Krista is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup Champion in the girls' 14-15 division. She shot 81 to win by one stroke at Hudson GC. Krista also is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour Series "D" Girls Champion. She finished with 430.00 points, placing first twice, second twice, and third once on the Players' Tour. In the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour, Krista was medallist at River Oaks GC, Bristol Ridge GC, and Braemar GC. Other highlights include being a Class "AA" Minnesota State High School Golf Tournament participant.
     Most Memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Conquering the back nine at River Oaks GC with a one-under par 35, and shooting a 74 overall."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "During the off-season, be sure to condition a few times a week. Include aerobic, flexibility and strength training in your workout." Additional Activities/Hobbies: Krista plays the piano and clarinet. She enjoys biking, shopping, badminton, reading, kayaking and cross-country skiing.

  Mary Hasselberg     Age 16     Staples, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Mary is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup Champion for the girls' 16-18 division. She shot a 79 at Somerset CC, and she went on to win the tournament in a one- hole playoff. Mary also finished third in the 2000 Players' Tour Tournament of Champions at Izaty's Golf & Yacht Club. In the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour, Mary finished first at North Oaks GC and second at The Preserve at Grandview. She also was medalist on the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour at the Blueberry Pines GC event. Mary's high school golf team finished first in the 1998 and 1999 Minnesota State High School League Class "A" Golf Tournament. In 2000, the team finished second. Mary participated in two National Oldsmobile Scrambles in Orlando, FL; in 1999 and 2000.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Winning the 2000 Junior Tour Players' Cup in a playoff and having a great group to play with that day."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "One thing that helps me is to keep a song in my head while I golf. It clears my head of just golf and makes me less nervous. I never forget to have fun, even when I'm playing bad."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Mary enjoys volleyball, snowmobling and swimming. She loves to bike and play basketball.
 
  Lauren Helmer     Age 13     Deephaven, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Lauren is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup Champion in the girls' 12-13 division. She shot a 92 at Mankato GC with a total of 3 birdies during her round. Her scoring average during the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association was 94.40. Lauren also participated on the Minnetonka High School golf team as a 7th grader. One of her biggest accomplishments was qualifying as an individual for the MGA Junior Championship at the University of Minnesota Golf Club.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "I would have to say my most memorable experience while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event was when it was only 47 degrees and rainy at a tournament. We had to play 16 holes in the rain."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "The best advice I would have to give to other junior golfers would be when you have the worst hole possible, just remember to shake it off. Because if you don't, you're going to continue doing bad, but if you just laugh it off you'll probably do a lot better on the next hole."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Other than golf, Lauren enjoys playing basketball and swimming; she also enjoys hanging out with friends and being a part of her church youth group. Lauren is also an "A" Honor Roll student at Minnetonka Middle School East.
 
  Joshua J. Bargfrede     Age 18     Rochester, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Joshua is the 2000 Minnesota Junior Golf Association Boys' Player of the Year. He earned 657.50 points to claim this honor. Joshua shot a 27-hole total of 106 (2 under par) to win the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour Tournament of Champions at Izaty's Golf & Yacht Club. This win catapulted him to the top of the Player of the Year Point Standings. Other highlights include winning the AJGA event at the Preserve GC in Brainerd; qualifying for the U.S. Junior in 1998 and 2000; shooting a 64 during a high school meet in 2000; and getting two hole-in-ones this summer, with one being at a tournament. Joshua's Rochester Lourdes Golf Team won the Minnesota State High School League Class "A" Golf Tournament, where they set a record in Class "A" for total score.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Being able to go to all the tournaments with three other guys from the high school golf team: Eric Deutsch, Steve Gaines and Mike Krowka…Playing with my cousin Eric in a group together at Phalen, being close the whole round. Our uncle, Jim Deutsch, showed up at the 17th hole, and we both birdied that hole and the 18th. I shot 69; Eric shot 70. My uncle is very cocky about how lucky he is for the both of us."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Always keep your confidence up and practice, practice, practice. Especially your short game."
     Additional Activites/Hobbies: Joshua played basketball and football on the freshman and B-squad teams. He participated in the Younglife youth organization. He works at Sam Goody in the Apache Rochester Mall.

 
  Nathan Schunke     Age 15     Rochester, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Nathan is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup Champion for the boys' 14-15 division. He shot a 73 at Hudson GC to claim the title. In five events on the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour, Nathan had 2 first place finishes, and he earned overall medalist honors at Northern Hills GC. Nathan also played on the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour, and he finished in the top 15 at the Tournament of Champions at Izaty's G&YC. Nathan took 6th place at the MGA State Championship at the University of Minnesota GC with rounds of 72-73=145. He also won the 1999 and 2000 AAU Tour Championship.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "The most memorable experience that happened when I was playing in a Minnesota PGA Junior event was when I birdied the last hole to win the Players' Cup by one stroke."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "The biggest tip ever is to keep your head in the game, it happens to everyone. They have a bad hole and then they are done for the whole round. It's going to happen to you, and there is nothing you can do to change it, it's done. For the next hole think birdie, and come back strong to make up for it."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies:
In his extra time, Nathan plays hockey, basketball and he works on his golf game when possible.
 
  Chad M. Nelson     Age 16     Fridley, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Chad is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup Champion for the boys' 16-18 division. He shot a 2-under-par 70 at Somerset CC to win the title. Chad also won two Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour Events; he shot a 74 at Viking Meadows GC, and he shot a 75 at Buffalo Run GC. Chad finished 2nd at River Oaks GC, shooting a 75. Chad also played with Mankato GC Head Professional Mike Zinni at the Burnet Senior Classic Junior Pro-Am, and tied him with a 2-under-par 34.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Forgetting my golf shoes for the Players' Cup, and playing my first two holes with sandals on. Then, standing by the 3rd hole, my mom was waiting with my shoes."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Work on all parts of the game. If you can hit the ball 300 yards, don't go to the driving range and take out the driver. Work around the green (putting and chipping).
     Additional Activities/Hobbies:
Chad is on both the soccer and basketball varsity teams at Columbia Heights High School. He enjoys watching sports and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoys spending time at his cabin.
 
  Trent Peterson     Age 13     Eagan, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Trent is the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour Players' Cup Champion for the boys' 12-13 division. He shot an 81 at Mankato GC to claim his title. Trent states: "I would have to say that 3 highlights in my golfing career come to mind. One would definitely be making the Eagan High School golf team as a 7th grader. Another highlight would be shooting a 64 (par 63) at Parkview GC to win the Junior Club Championship title for the third consecutive year. And the final one would be winning the Players' Cup this year in Mankato."
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "My most memorable experience while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior event would be this summer when I shot a 78 at Virginia GC to not only win my division, but to be overall medalist as well."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? " I have two pieces of advice for other golfers. First, play the short courses more often so you get more practice with the shorter irons. Secondly, when playing for fun, create difficult shots and situations so you can improve on your troubleshooting."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Besides golf, Trent competes on the school soccer and diving teams. He curls at the St. Paul Curling Club and is a downhill ski racer for Buck Hill. Trent also plays the trumpet in the school band
