Minnesota Junior Tour
  Justin Krulik     Age 17     Chanhassen, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Justin was a member of the 1999 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour. He finished 2nd at the Phalen Park event with a 74 and tied for 5th at the Bearpath event with a 76. Justin finished 3rd after a playoff at the 1999 MN PGA Players' Tour Tournament of Champions at Izatys Golf & YC, with a 36-hole total of 156. Justin won the 1999 Men's Club Championship at Dahlgreen GC shooting 67-77=144. He finished 4th in the AAU Junior Olympics in Cleveland, Ohio shooting 70-75=145. Justin has a self-taught golf swing and has never had a lesson. He carries a 1.9 handicap and plays whenever he gets the chance.
     Most memorable experience(s) occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Driving back and forth to Izatys each day for the Tournament of Champions then on day two winning 3rd place in a playoff."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Have fun with golf, work as hard as you want and remember today's preparation is tomorrow's showing."
     Additional Activites/Hobbies: Justin enjoys traveling, Golden Gopher football, Viking football, soccer, basketball, fishing and constantly working on his golf game.
 
  Gary Brant     Age 16      Monticello, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Gary was a member of the 1999 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour and Players' Tour. He placed 1st overall at the Greenhaven GC Junior Tour event shooting a 73 and at Izatys Golf & YC, shooting a 75. Gary tied for 3rd place at the 1999 Junior Tour Players' Cup for ages 16-18. He went through two qualifiers to make it to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship in Florida during the summer of his 9th grade year. Gary has been on the varsity golf team since his seventh grade year. He was All-Conference in 9th and 10th grade. He qualified for the Minnesota State High School Class "A" Golf Tournament during his freshman year. He has won three Junior Club Championships-two at Pebble Creek GC and one at Monticello CC.
     Most Memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "I have had too many good experiences to just name one."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "No matter how one hole goes the next one is always a new one so keep your cool after a bad shot and make it up on another hole."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Gary is also a wide receiver for the varsity football team. He enjoys hunting and fishing, and just spending time with his dad.
 
  Laura Lundbohm     Age 18      Roseau, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Laura placed 4th overall in the 1999 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour points; while playing in 6 events. She had two firsts, a second and a third place finish. She won the Junior Tour event at Giants Ridge GC by shooting a 74. Laura qualified for the 1999 Minnesota Maxfli PGA Junior Championship, the 1999 Mid-Summer Classic (where she placed 5th) and the 1999 Players' Cup. Laura also has participated in the last three Minnesota State High School Class "A" Golf Tournaments, most recently finishing in a tie for 6th place. She fired a second day round of 74, the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Winning the playoff at the Junior Tour event at Eagle Ridge GC after shooting a 79."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game?"Keep practicing your short game and you will save a lot of pars. Record fairways and greens hit or missed and number of putts on every round; this will tell you where you need to concentrate your practice. Have fun!"
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Laura is a member of the National Honor Society. She was captain of the first volleyball team from Roseau to ever attend State, which finished 2nd. Laura also was captain of the Section 8A basketball champions. Laura is a lifeguard at Roseau Pool and enjoys hunting and fishing. She has signed a letter of intent to play golf at Southwest State in Marshall, MN.
 
  Brittany Bertilson     Age 16     Austin, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Brittany was a member of the 1999 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour. She was 4th with 190.00 points in the 1999 Player of the Year for girls in the 14-15 age group. She played in 10 Junior Tour tournaments, placing 1st in her age bracket for 9 of them. She was the overall medalist at one event. Brittany placed 5th at the 1999 Mid-Summer Classic held at Rush Creek GC. Brittany has participated and earned a varsity letter at Austin High School since the 8th grade. She was chosen all-conference her freshman year.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "I was playing one of my best rounds. I knew the girl I was playing with was only trailing me by a few strokes, each hole I bogeyed she pared. We were finally on the last two holes and I chipped in for a birdie for a score of two and she took a five. I then knew that I had her beat. I then went on to win my first overall girls title."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Practice every chance you get, play and practice the same as you would in competition. Try to remember that one bad shot doesn't determine the entire round."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies:
Besides playing golf, Brittany enjoys playing basketball, jumping on her trampoline, riding her moped, shopping, talking on the phone and hanging out with friends. In school she maintains a 3.6 GPA.
 
  Lauren Huhnerkoch     Age 14      Burnsville, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Lauren has been a member of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association since 1997. She finished tied for 4th with 225.00 points in the 1999 Player of the Year for girls in the 12-13 age group. Lauren played in nine Junior Tour events, winning six and finishing second in the other three. She was overall medalist at Valley View GC, shooting an 86. Lauren finished 4th at the Players' Cup for ages 12-13, and 5th at the Mid-Summer Classic for the same age group. She won the Junior Girls Championship at the U of M Golf Club and played on its MGA team.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Breaking 40 for nine holes and 90 for eighteen holes in the same round and winning medalist honors. Also, making great friends."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Don't let your emotions control your game. Let a bad shot go and don't follow a bad shot with another bad shot. Have fun playing, but play and practice hard. Bad practice habits will show up in your game if you aren't careful."
     Additional Activites/Hobbies: Lauren attends the 8th grade at Metcalf Junior High School in Burnsville. She is on the "A" Honor Roll and is editor of the school newspaper. Lauren was honorable mention in the All-Lake Conference for Golf as a 7th grader for the Burnsville High School Girls Golf Team. She also is involved in her church youth group.

 
  Megan George     Age 16     Plymouth, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Megan was a member of the 1999 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour and Junior Tour. She placed first at the Majestic Oaks GC Junior Tour event, shooting a 69. She placed third at the Dahlgreen GC Players' Tour event, shooting a 77. Megan participated in the 1999 Minnesota/Wisconsin Cup Matches. She qualified for the Players' Tour Tournament of Champions, where she finished tied for 5th with a score of 82-90=172. Megan qualified for the 1999 Minnesota State High School Class "AA" Golf Tournament. She was a member of the Wayzata team, who placed third. This year, she is ranked in the top ten girl golfers in the state.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Playing in the Minnesota-Wisconsin Junior Cup Matches-it was so much fun! I met a lot of new people last summer. I also shot my low round last summer at Majestic Oaks - a 69."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Practice, practice, practice. I've heard that over and over, and it does pay off in the end. Keep working hard, especially when you're the most discouraged."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies:
Megan played varsity tennis for Wayzata in 9th and 10th grade. She also likes to downhill ski, shopping and spending time with her friends. Megan is an honor roll member, and she works in a golf shop.
