   Krista Swanson     Age 16      Forest Lake, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Krista won the 2001 Players' Tour Tournament of Champions at Izaty's G&YC. She shot rounds of 72-73 to edge her nearest opponent by 10 strokes. That win boosted her up to second place in the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Player of the Year point standings. In Series "B" on the Players' Tour, Krista finished second in the point standings. She won the final event of that Series at Rum River Hills GC. Krista placed third at the 2001 Westfield Minnesota PGA Junior Championship at The Preserve at Grandview Lodge and Deacon's Lodge. In 2000, Krista won the Players' Cup for ages 14-15 at Hudson GC. She won the Mid-Summer Classic for ages 14-15 in 1999, and was Player of the Year on the Junior Tour that year. In 1998, she won the Mid-Summer Classic for ages 12-13, the Players' Cup for ages 12-13, and was Player of the Year for ages 12-13. Krista was Player of the Year in 1997 and 1996 (in 1996 she was 11 years old). Krista placed 7th in the Minnesota State High School Class "AA" Golf Tournament in 2001.
     Most Memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "The thing I will always remember about golf this summer is shooting a 72-73 (at Izaty's) and beating all the guys (sorry boys!)."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Even if you're playing the worst golf you've ever played, just think positively and know you'll only be able to get better!"
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Krista enjoys playing the piano and clarinet, kayaking, going shopping and to the movies with friends. She also is active in Student Council activites.
 
  Erica McKenzie     Age 15      Hastings, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Erica won the 2001 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup for ages 14-15 at Interlachen CC. She also won each of the three Junior Tour events she played in, including Oak Marsh GC, River Oaks GC and Bristol Ridge GC. Erica quotes: "Winning all four of my Junior golf events with an average score of 80.8 is a real accomplishment, but playing different courses and making new friends is the highlight of Junior golf."
     Most memorable experience(s) occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Winning the Players' Cup at Interlachen CC. Just being able to play the course was a real treat in itself and an experience I'll always remember."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Focus on the postiive, don't let negative thoughts consume you. As Bruce Anderson, the Pro at River Oaks stresses to me, 'Golf is a game of misses!"
     Additional Activites/Hobbies: During the winter months, Erica participates in girls varsity hockey, where she is the captain of this year's team. Hockey consumes a lot of her time year around, but during the summer much of her time is reserved for golf. She also enjoys listening to music and just hanging out with her friends.
 
  Erica Dahl     Age 17     Fargo, ND
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Erica won the 2001 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup at Somerset CC. She shot a 76 to claim the title. Erica has been All-State and All- Conference on her high school team for the last 4 years. She was runner-up in the North Dakota State High School Championship in 2000, and in 2001 she is the Champion. Erica holds the record for the Lowest Recorded Round for ND High Schools with a score of 67 both at Jamestown CC and Devils Lake CC. She is a member of the 4-time North Dakota State High School Champion team, and was named Senior Player of the Year for the Conference and State. Erica placed 2nd at the 2001 AJGA Tournament in Brainerd, MN. She was also profiled in the Nov. 2nd Issue of Golf World (pg. 10).
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "I will always remember winning my first 'major.' I was 12 years old and shot many, many over par. It was the beginning of my golfing career, which I am still working on today."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Do not give up. It can be a very frustrating sport, but if you keep working hard, it will pay off."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Erica also participates in soccer and track, and she has her Blackbelt in Taekwondo. She also plays the cello and likes to run.
 
  Katie Detlefsen     Age 13     Eagan, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Katie is the 2001 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup Champion for ages 12-13. She shot a 92 at Olympic Hills GC to win by 5 shots. Katie placed first in three Junior Tour events in 2001. She was a member of the Players' Tour also. She placed first in both the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association 11 & Under Mid-Summer Classic and 2000 11 & Under Junior Championship. Katie also won the 1999 11 & Under Mid-Summer Classic; she placed 2nd in the 1999 Maxfli Minnesota PGA Junior Championship 11 & Under Division; and she placed 2nd at the 1999 11 & Under Junior Championship. In 1998, Katie won the Maxfli Minnesota PGA Junior Championship 11 & Under Division. Katie is the 2000 Junior Club Champion for girls at Cannon GC.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "My most memorable experience was one of my first major wins. I had to make a 20 foot long putt to win a playoff. I concentrated only on my putt and sank it to win the tournament."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "I think that the most important thing that junior golfers can do is work on their short game. As young golfers, it will take a little while for muscles to develop for the long ball, but everyone can work on the short game."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Other than golf, Katie likes to play basketball, dance, read, play saxophone and go fishing.
 
  Grant Lissick     Age 17     Vadnais Heights, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Grant won the 2001 Players' Tour Tournament of Champions at Izaty's G&YC. He shot 71-77 to claim the title. On the 2001 Players' Tour, Grant tied for first at the Troy Burne event with a 71. Grant won the 2000 Minnesota State High School Class AA Golf Tournament and the 2000 Junior State Publinks. He tied for first at the 2001 Tri-State Invitational. He was the MGA Junior Player of the Year in 2000. Grant also made 1st alternate for US Amateur Publinks. He was All-Conference (2000-2001) and All-State (2000-2001). He placed third at the 2000 MGA Jr. State Championship, sixth at the 2001 Minnesota State High School Class AA Golf Tournament, and sixth at the 2001 Junior State Publinks. Grant was a Co-Captain for the 2001-2002 seasons for White Bear Lake Area High School.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "Going into a playoff with Rodney Hamblin out at Troy Burne after we both shot 71…Winning the Tournament of Champions at Izaty's."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Practice as much as you can, especially on the short game."
     Additional Activites/Hobbies: Grant also plays hockey and basketball.
 
  Parker Pemberton      Age 15     Apple Valley, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Parker began playing golf as a 10-year old and within a year he was winning golf tournaments. As an 11-year old he won his first tournament and then won the 11 & Under Junior Championship. When he was 13, he won the Players' Cup (Ages 12-13) by a margin of 4 strokes at Hudson GC. This year, when Parker was 15, he won a third Major Championship, the Players' Cup for Ages 14-15 at Interlachen CC. Parker has played on the Apple Valley High School Varsity golf team since he was in 7th grade. As a freshman, he tied for 6th in the 2001 Minnesota State High School Class AA Golf Tournament. Parker played on team Minnesota for the 1999 Minnesota/Wisconsin Cup Matches.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "My most memorable experience was playing on the Minnesota vs. Wisconsin Cup Matches. It was really fun playing against the best competition in Wisconsin. They scheduled the whole day perfectly and it made the whole experience very special."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "I would recommend trying to play with older competition. That way you are more competitive and you can learn many things from watching older kids play. Don't be afraid to take chances either because if you let things hold you back, you won't give yourself full opportunity to succeed."
     Additional Activities/Hobbies: Parker played Bantam "A" hockey for Apple Valley last year and is looking forward to tryouts at the high school level; his is a devoted Minnesota Wild fan. Parker runs a neighborhood lawn service to help pay for golf balls and equipment and one of his favorite pastimes - movies. He caddied for his dad this year at the Minnesota State Amateur, which he aspires to play in next year. He really enjoys beating his father in their family golf matches.
 
  Clayton Rask     Age 16     Elk River, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Clayton won the 2001 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup for ages 16-18 at Somerset CC. He shot a 2-under par 70 to claim the title. Clayton also won the Junior Tour Scoring Average Award, with a scoring average of 71.00. On the Junior Tour, Clayton won three out of the five events he played in; at Keller GC, Forest Hills CC, and Princeton GC. He placed second at the 2001 Minnesota State High School Class AA High School Tournament, and his Elk River team took third. Clayton writes: "A trip to Ireland in June was a golf experience I'll always remember. Our USA team took first place and I won the Emerald Open." He finished the summer by winning the Club Championship at Monticello CC with scores of 65 and 37 (4-under par).
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "While playing at Princeton GC I shot a 66 for two consecutive rounds."
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Never give up! Keep focused on your mental game. Have fun and practice, practice, practice!"
     Additional Activities/Hobbies:
Clayton enjoys fishing, spending time with his friends, and playing football and basketball. He works at the Northern Palms Golf Center.
 
  Cameron White     Age 14      Plymouth, MN
       Junior Golf Highlights/Accomplishments: Cameron won the 2001 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Cup for ages 12-13 at Olympic Hills GC. He shot a 75 to claim the title. Cameron played in 11 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Junior Tour events in 2001, and he placed first in 7 of them, and second in the remaining 4. He also won 5 Junior Tour events in 2000. Last spring Cameron got the chance to try out for the Wayzata Varsity golf team. In June of 2001, he qualified to play in the AAU National Golf Tournament in Iowa.
     Most memorable experience(s) that occurred while participating in a Minnesota PGA Junior Event: "The most memorable experience while on the Junior PGA I would have to say was winning the Players' Cup at Olympic Hills GC"
     What are some tips/advice that you would recommend to other juniors to help them with their game? "Swing within yourself, and always work on your short game."
