Minnesota PGA Junior Golf
The mission of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf 'Sota Series is to provide playing opportunities for the advanced, intermediate and beginning golfer ages 8-19. These playing opportunities will promote competition and camaraderie. The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf 'Sota Series is sponsored by the Minnesota Section of the Professional Golfers Association of America, Inc., a non-profit corporation chartered in the state of Minnesota.
The ‘Sota Series is comprised of four unique “tours,” based on age and skill level. Whether your child is just getting started with their golf journey or wants to play more competitive golf to prepare for the high school or collegiate level, we have a tour for you.
The key to the 'Sota Series is flexible scheduling options. Each year we offer over 180 individual events, allowing you to select as little or as many events as you'd like your child to participate in that fits your schedule at a location that makes sense for your family. This gives kids the opportunity to play plenty of golf with minimal disruption to your family’s jam-packed summer routine. Events are offered on weekdays starting the week of June 8 through mid-August.
To play in our events, your child must sign up for a membership, which they can do here. Once they are members, you and your child can select tournaments that fit your schedule. Currently, several of our events are full, but you can still sign up for the waitlist for these events. We will contact you if your child receives a spot in the event as soon as we are aware of an opening.
The “Minny” Tour is perfect for 7-12-year-olds who have little or no experience in competitive golf. Events are all held on Par-3, 9-hole courses. Caddies are allowed.
The “Prep” Tour is designed for 7-12-year-olds who have more experience in competitive golf. These kids play on 9 and 18-hole executive and regulation courses. Caddies are allowed.
The Junior Tour is ideal for 13-19-year-olds and all events are 18-hole stroke play competitions. This is for players who are looking to play competitive golf in a recreational environment—similar to other club-level sports. It is also a great option for those looking to play competitively in high school or may already be on a high school team. The Junior Tour is the primary pre-requisite to earn status on the Players Tour.
The Players Tour is an invitation-only program in which the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Committee and Staff determine eligibility requirements based on the previous year’s scores. It’s open to boys and girls ages 13–19. Invites are sent out to players based on their average score to par using their top three scores in our programs from 2019 or a handicap requirement.
